When I was younger, my mum used to tell me this story. In a certain land, there were two women and there was a famine. One had a son while the other had about 9 children. The woman with the son would go in search of food and feed it all to her son. Soon after, she died and her son followed. The other woman with 9 children would share whatever she found 11 ways. She gave herself two portions and fed her children with the rest; they all survived.
