Blue Wall of Peonies

It started with just a simple conversation on an ordinary day. When my sister told me her desire to decorate the guest room with some artwork. She suggested that I could draw for her a flower.

It’s her favourite, the peony.

I drew the flowers digitally and printed them on art paper.
There were four, and we hung them in silver-grey frames.
But not on this wall.
And this wall wasn’t blue before.

That day when one of the four frames fell, this wall has already been painted blue. My sister decided to move the three here.

The one on the most left, it’s the first one that I drew.
I often look at it more than the rest. Even though it just makes me more blue.

It’s my favourite, the leftmost peony.

Time to time, I have feelings of putting down my pencil and call it a day. That maybe I should just give drawing a rest. There’s nothing special. I make nothing special. Perhaps my peonies feel that too. Sometimes I think they look a little sad.
But looking at this blue wall with these peonies that I’ve drawn, bordered with silver-grey frames, it feels a little special.
Maybe it’s about finding that right place, when the time comes.

Call me funny, but they look quite happy on that blue wall.
