Fall 2023 Syllabus — Contemporary Black Feminist Thought in the Law

This Fall, I have the honor and opportunity to debut a new reading group at the University of Richmond School of Law — Contemporary Black Feminist Thought in the Law. I designed this course as part of my new scholarly journey toward Black feminist epistemic justice through visual culture, the digital humanities, storytelling, and legal archaeology.

Because of the brevity of a single semester, I could not fit every valuable text into this year’s syllabus, but I was able to curate a reading list that meets the needs of my students and their hunger for radical visions of justice and democracy, feminist histories, and the opportunity to engage different types and forms of media. Please enjoy this year’s syllabus (including links to the readings/media) and, if you like, send me suggestions for what I can include in future iterations of the course. Thank you!
