Life Beyond — Atacama

<p>San Pedro de Atacama, with its lack of humidity, rain, and light pollution, has stellar skies that offer a portal to wonder beyond the earth. The world&rsquo;s leading astronomical observatories offer stargazing tours using their megatron telescopes. When we flew into Calama from Puerto Montt, that&rsquo;s where we were headed. When compared to the lush green forests and the deep blue lakes of Puerto Varas, Calama seemed like a hell on earth.</p> <p>San Pedro de Atacama is an hour and a half on the road from Calama. In that entire drive, there was barely any lifeform other than the innumerable cars headed that way.
