It began way before women were called bitches and ho’s on wax. Rap didn’t invent misogyny, but the art form did usher it into a new millennium. Now, rather than MCs rhyming about pimping, internet influencers are bragging about being involved in human trafficking. A couple of them have been arrested on that very charge.

Much like anyone in a position of power, men feel threatened by the strides their counterparts have made over the years. It wasn’t that long ago that a woman’s place was said to be in the kitchen, satisfied with life as a homemaker, no matter her hidden aspirations. Today, we know women are capable of contributing in even more ways than they did before.
