After graduation from college, I was lucky enough to find a fantastic, well-paying job with a well-known pharmaceutical company. Figuring I was set for life, as I didn’t plan on retiring until I was at least 72, I was surprised to find they were running what seemed like a sinister program called “The Golden Parachute.”
They asked everyone who was over 65 to leave the company! It didn’t seem like a choice at the time.
I was shocked. This is the place I planned on staying for the rest of my career. Having always been a loyal and responsible employee, I intended to stay there until I either died or retired, whatever comes first.
