Light Rail is a key part of the first stage of delivering the Transport for New South Wales Future Transport strategy.
From my first-hand experience as Digital Engineering Manager on the infrastructure projects the utility relocation aspect of light rail is an area ripe for disruption and innovation.
Utility relocations are particularly tricky on light rail projects as they essentially require open heart surgery to be performed on our city streets which are already a complex technical (buried utilities, bones, and even tram tracks) and political environment (with varying ownership, access and accountability rights).
