AAPI Heritage Month: VRL salutes Asian American and Pacific Islander women who won U.S. elected office

First some context: As of 2021, it was reported that AAPI officials of all genders make up less than 0.9% of elected leaders in the U.S., although this group accounts for 6.1% of the general population.

As of 2022, data shows that Asian American and Pacific Islander women represent 6.7% of the women in Congress, 3.3% of all female state legislators, and 5% of mayors of the 100 largest U.S. cities.
