How I Feel Close to my Scottish Heritage
<p>Ok, so if you’re like me, you might have grown up going to the Highland Games every year, listening to ‘Scotland the Brave’ keening through the fall breeze and pressuring your parents into buying you one of those enormous scones before you left.</p>
<p>It was a simple way to connect to your cultural heritage as a seven year old and maybe it was all I needed at the time, seeing that I’m still thinking about all of this to this day. But somehow, as I grew into a teenager, somewhere in the process it became not quite enough to grant me a peaceful integration of all parts of my identity as human being in America.</p>
