When Dr Ahir Pushpanath, who leads innovation in biocatalysis at Basecamp Research, received the experimental data of a set of enzyme sequences sent to a pharmaceutical partner, he knew that his team’s work was set to have a significant impact on the entire biotransformation community. This was the perfect opportunity to submit an application to the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) for their annual Global Awards.
Established in 1994, the IChemE Awards are considered the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards — Ahir was absolutely overjoyed when IChemE wrote to him in September saying that Basecamp Research had been selected as a finalist for the “business startup” category.
