Two Israeli scholars specializing in ancient cuneiform writing say a language very similar to Hebrew was a spoken language from at least 3,800 years ago. Newly translated cuneiform tablets show that a form of Hebrew was spoken. The cuneiform tablets were discovered in Iraq and now only recently translated. The tablets have Canaanite/Amorite in one part and a translation in Akkadian. Both Professor Nathan Wasserman of the Hebrew University Institute of Archaeology and Department of Ancient Near Eastern Civilizations and Dr. Professor Yoram (Yori) Cohen of Tel Aviv University Department of Archaeology state the language on these cuneiform tablets are very similar to Hebrew. they write in the latest issue of Revue d’assyriologie et d’archéologie orientale:
