According to a July 2015 report from Statista, Android users could choose from 1.6 million apps in the Google Play Store. The Apple App Store remains the second-largest app marketplace with 1.5 million available apps. The most popular app categories among Apple users are games, business, and education, whereas Android users prefer education, lifestyle, and entertainment. Some industries, though, have not yet caught up to this technical mainstay and are wrongly ignored by entrepreneurs.

It’s here, in these old-fashioned industries, where the potential for an explosively successful app lies. Large numbers of people work in these fields, and they use inefficient methods to communicate with one another. Find a business sector that still uses dry-erase boards and legal pads to communicate, and you’ve got an audience for an app.
