Apparently she ‘only circulated petitions with her legal name, instead of her former name.’ And that even puts other LGBTQ+ candidates in flux according to the article. Its even worse because she got the necessary signatures to run.
The reason this happened is because of a law from the 1990s that requires all candidates to list any former names from the last 5 years.
As the candidate herself explained, this is not possible for trans people, they’re asking us to publicly out ourselves to run for office.
