The average 40+ year-old believes themselves to be around 20% younger than they actually are. That means I think I’m 32.
I rationally understand I’m not in my early thirties anymore. But honestly, I still expect my face to look that way.
Catching myself in the mirror these days is a shock. I have eye bags that appeared during the sale of my business three years ago and never had the decency to disappear. I have a double chin. My skin has a ruddiness to it.
My mirror doesn’t have a social media-approved filter on it, so I’m forced to look at a face that is at least 5 years older than I think it should look.
