The Melbourne Cup is Australia’s most famous horse race, run at Flemington Race Course as a part of the Spring Racing Carnival.
It’s a big deal this year (2021) as punters are allowed to attend the race again. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were no punters allowed at the course in 2020. A maximum of 10,000 people will be allowed to file through the gates for the race today. In fact, Melbourne came out of lockdown just in time to enjoy Cup Day.
