Dr. Claudine Gay, anti-Black racism, Carpetbaggers, Scalawags, DEI, and white supremacy: Why Race Still Matters in the Workplace

I have observed recent events at Harvard involving the former president, Dr. Claudine Gay, and the so-called “pushback against DEI” with great distress. As I watch the “Trojan horse” way those events are being used as cover for anti-Black bias and racism, I am, unironically, elbows deep into writing my book Competency Checking: Why Race Still Matters in the Workplace. And the very reason I am writing this book — is because I saw this coming.

Because this moment feels so urgent, I have decided to post some excerpts from one chapter of my book below, not for sales but for souls because, as the political satirist and writer Johnathan Swift said, “Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late.”
