We Care More About Politics Than Child Abuse
<p>Yesterday, I published a story about the awful state of children’s welfare in Tennessee. It’s a piece I spent three days working on, trying to help readers connect some dots and understand how truly corrupt and hypocritical our lawmakers can be.</p>
<p>It’s easy enough to read separate headlines about all of the terrible things that have happened and are happening in Tennessee, but it’s much harder to find anyone willing to talk about the combined effect.</p>
<p>How it puts more of our kids in danger.</p>
<p>People often read terrible headlines about sexual abuse happening in Tennessee schools and churches. We’ve got a ton of abuse scandals down here. They clutch their pearls, they wring their hands, they "heart" posts about it on Instagram.</p>
