<p>The Supreme Court verdict about Nigeria’s presidential election drew varying reactions from different quarters; those who saw themselves on the winning side, and those who saw themselves on the other side.</p>
<p>Without doubt, no-one wants to experience ‘defeat’. The kind of emotions that follow unpleasant outcomes can sometimes, if not well managed, make you do some unimaginable things.</p>
<p>I remember a phrase common those days in school when we get a score we are not pleased with, we say, “The lecturer gave me”, but when the outcome is good, we say, “we scored”. No one likes the taste of defeat. But there are a number of things to learn when such experiences come our way. Apart from humbling the person, it tests the quality of one’s esteem and strength of character. And oftentimes many people fail the test.</p>
