An Homage to The Hood

That’s the first freedom. You see, those who were segregated, long ago and by design, have always known how the system works. They knew before many of us who are on social media, peeling through long articles, complex social landmines and discovering real history for the first time, how the system game is played.

They watched all of those who were able to run away and sprawl out to the ‘burbs, even to the enchanted woods, get away and who are just now rousing (read: getting woke) to what time it really is. Many of those in the hood understand who the system is made to work out well for and they don’t entertain the notion that it was ever made for them to thrive. They don’t really believe they’re victims, not in the defeatist sense of the word, but they know something is amiss and their energy is misspent looking to the constitution and the flag for comfort.
