Day 187: Surprised guest — Turkey

I love going back into this pages, when I’m in Turkey having nothing planned and no place to sleep and finding randomly this village. The world is populated with amazing people and it’s such a treasure to meet them and have the opportunity to spend some time with them.

I would love to transcribe the conversation we had yesterday with my parents in the car, coming back from an event organised partly by my little brother. It was about not even traveling but putting you in a position in which you have no choice but to believe in life, to trust it (or God, Allah, whomever you choose) as to be able to embrace it fully.

This encounter (after I had to deal with giant geese (huuuuuge ones!), gun shots in the forest, no water, darkness, no place to sleep) is one of those that makes me the luckiest woman in the world.

“14.06.2015

(…)

We start sign language again with Aïcha. After a shower, we eat. A rug is laid out on another mat, we take a piece and place it on our knees. In the center is a wooden circle about ten centimeters high, on which is placed a huge metallic-gray tray — on which are arranged all sorts of dishes — eggs, soups, salads, bread, butter. All delicious. Aïcha sees me eating as much as she does as I stall from exhaustion after my third plate of soup (all different). I force myself to eat scrambled eggs.
