Roxanne, the Siren of Baldwin Village

If your first introduction to the Jungles, the nickname of the lush Baldwin Village neighborhood, is via the Oscar-winning Training Day, you’ll probably be nervous visiting there.

And for sure you may feel the urge to park your car under a bright street lamp if you arrive on a chilly winter night to meet your podcast guest in her beautifully-appointed apartment.

But after snacks and chit-chat you’ll see Baldwin Village is a lot like most LA neighborhoods: relatively quiet, casual, and no big deal.

Roxanne has lived in her South LA apartment for 20 years and loves it. But what truly warms her heart is the work she does on Skid Row, a job she’s held for two decades.
