SCOTUS Upholds Right Of Humans To Own Other Humans
<p>In a 6–3 decision split along ideological lines, the Supreme Court today sided with a conservative group who argued that forbidding the ownership of human beings as property interferes with their First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion.</p>
<p>Writing for the majority on the case Christian Patriots and Plantation Owners for Liberty (CPPOL) v. Smith, Jones, et al, №21–493, Justice Neil Gorsuch said “The right to own people as chattels is well established in the Bible. Religious freedom is a core principle of the American Constitution, and we cannot force business owners and others to violate their deeply held belief in the right to buy and sell human beings in the marketplace.”</p>
