Residence Registration (Meldezettel)

Depending on your citizenship and visa status, you will need different documents. For the full list of documents that you might need, see here. All the documents should be printed in physical form. I recommend printing these documents out before you arrive in Vienna. However, if you forget, the international student office can help you with printing (there are printers at WU, but you won’t get access to them until you have your student ID).

At the local council office, you will be directed to the waiting room, where you will take a number from the ticket machine and wait your turn. When they call you to the respective office room, the staff member will scan to make sure that you have all the correct documents and then print and sign the official certificate for you.
