White Privilege and the Race Myth

We truly live in a global world. Constant advances in transportation allow us to physically move people and objects great distances in increasingly small amounts of time, while communications technology such the internet and cell phones allow us to convey ideas and information with even quicker speed. The cities and countries in which we live are becoming more globalized as a result, and the inhabitants of the more populous areas of the world experience increasingly frequent close and personal interaction with any number of “races” and ethnicities. While in a “perfect” world, all people would think of all others as equal, it is certain that this is not the case in the world we have now. Instead, some groups of people seem to enjoy more privilege than others, in a variety of different ways, and maintain their privilege through various methods.
