Gen-Z loves an overpriced croissant

I am killing time before I meet my friend Kimberly for the first time. We have been friends on Instagram for several years and I have been meaning to meet her in real life since I moved to Vancouver last year. Today we are not even meeting for a date, I am actually picking up some stuff I bought from her on an Instagram closet sale she posted to her close friends. That purchase ended my 1-month challenge of not spending any money on “unnecessary things” but what can say? I was motivated by the chance of meeting her for the first time and honestly, there is no way I can find a North Face fleece for 30 dollars again. It seemed like a good deal to me.

We are meeting at the Emily Carr library at 3:30 pm but my anxiety brought me here one hour before our appointment. Outside the library happens to be one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. In a garlic-shaped building in the color of red, you can find an aesthetic place to sit and also 15-dollar croissants. While making the line to get inside I couldn’t help but wonder (as miss Carrie Bradshaw would say), how much are we willing to pay for a cold and overpriced piece of bread? At the line, I also noticed a gigantic fly that was all over the pastries and then landed on my favorite one: the almond croissant.

Learn More
