Undertreatment of Pain…a result of the opioid epidemic, or rather a campaign of fear mongering?
<p>Needless to say, you could see if you clicked on the link why this was such a painful situation. Even a potentially mortal one if other circumstances were involved. During her recovery she would contact me from the hospital often in tears, complaining of agonizing pain. Now this was after she was placed into the rehabilitation unit because fortunately for her the trauma center was able to locate an orthopedic doctor actually able to do such a complex procedure. I don't have the facts but from what I understand it takes a major specialist to even attempt such a procedure. I was really put off about her suffering and could not understand why they would undertreat her pain just two days after she was receiving intravenous morphine every four hours, and then dropped to five milligrams of hydrocodone, a very effective but mild pain medication. This person does have a bit of history with substance use,</p>
