Paul C. McKasty: the Legend, the Tragedy, the Story of an Era
<p>In mid-July of 1989, 24-year-old Queens, New York producer Paul C. McKasty was murdered while sleeping in a basement bedroom of the one–story home he shared with his brother and mother. Having just engineered Biz Markie’s soon-to-be mega-hit “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aofoBrFNdg" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Just a Friend</a>” and Queen Latifah’s “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KHzXqUbcu4" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Ladies First</a>”, in addition to engineering and producing <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEgKRuA_eSw" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">significant portions</a> of Eric B. & Rakim’s third album <em>Let The Rhythm Hit ’Em</em>, McKasty sat on the precipice of hip-hop super-producer status at the time of his death.</p>
