Learning How to Make My Own Clothes in Four Months…While Working Full-time as a Law Student
<p>I went to Barcelona for three days to celebrate. During the trip, I checked out one of their clothing stores, Desigual. I regard malls and stores as museums. Art museums. So when traveling I will never hesitate to spend the extra time at such places. (I once spent two full days examining the Harrods on a prior six-day trip to London.) I was blown away. Incredibly inspired. The Desigual on La Rambla had light wash denim trousers, a newspaper print chiffon trench coat, and long flower-print mini-dresses that transported me to both Maui and Paris. I was just casually browsing until I came across this oversized blazer with denim panels. I modeled it in front of their many mirror columns because at a price of 200 euros, I definitely wasn’t taking it out the store. It was at this moment that I was hit with a pang of I-need-to-learn-how-to-make-my-own-clothes-so-I-can-own- magical-things-like-that-blazer. I NEEDED THAT BLAZER. You know how it feels when you’re obsessed with fashion and see something you want. I really believed it would make me 10x cooler in that moment.</p>
