Let’s try to read the motto on the Jerusalem’s main entrance…

Mr. President used this word intentionally. Because, today, this sentence is the motto of a special civilization that Turkish Republic tries to be the heir and continuation of: Hundreds of years ago, when there was no Western pressure, the most powerful sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Suleiman the Magnificent, repaired the city of Jerusalem and built the city walls that still stand today. When it came to writing the motto of each city, he preferred to have this expression written on the main entrance gate of old Jerusalem, the Jaffa Gate.

Suleiman the Magnificent did not have this expression written by force or for a political reason. There was no one to force him. He did not need to pursue a political interest either. He chose this motto as a ‘Muslim ruler’ to fulfill his duty. Of course, he could have written “Muhammedun Resulullah”. No one would object. But if he wrote that, he would disrespect the truth that Muhammad was sent to.
