FEATURES OF EARTH’S CORE

The interior of the Earth is made up of a rocky exterior, which includes the mantle and the crust, and is encapsulated around a heavy metallic core. Most geological research focuses on the Earth’s surface, but our knowledge about the core is growing quickly, which is fascinating because it highlights not only the structure but also the dynamic geological processes deep within the Earth. This progress in understanding the core has been driven by two major developments: first, cutting-edge geophysical observations in areas like seismology and geomagnetism; and second, the successful experimental study of materials under the extreme conditions of pressure and temperature that exist at the core. These advancements are reshaping our comprehension of Earth’s inner workings and promise to unveil more about the planet’s most hidden and inaccessible places.
