Doing The Work for a Fresh Perspective on Caring for My Mom

<p>Just finished reading&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <blockquote> <p>In it, she writes, &ldquo;Along my spiritual path, I often encounter periods of rapid growth and learning. These periods typically follow a difficult situation, decision, or relationship I&rsquo;m attempting to navigate.&rdquo;</p> </blockquote> <p>Nothing like a rough patch of life to amp up our spiritual growth, right?</p> <p>In Kelley&rsquo;s case, a broken friendship.</p> <p>In my case, a health emergency with my mom.</p> <p>Sh*t happens and we get to do what Kelley calls&nbsp;<em>The Work.</em></p> <p>What does she mean by that?</p> <p>&ldquo;The Work is all about whatever process is underway and how we&rsquo;re tending to it.&rdquo;</p> <p>In Kelley&rsquo;s case, it comes with and through the mythopoetic narratives she creates or discovers while exploring her inner landscape. &ldquo;The Work begins when we acknowledge what needs tending to.&rdquo; When we stop denying the intrusion and acknowledge what is.</p> <p>Kellley&rsquo;s use of the term, The Work, rang a familiar bell.
