Why the Denim Industry Is In Desperate Need of Education
<p>When I got my first job selling jeans back in 2008, I didn’t know much about the topic!</p>
<p>I would tell my customers to wait six months before they washed their jeans, that Japanese denim makers had imported old Levi’s looms, and all the other stories we now know are myths or marketing stunts. I even ruined several pairs of jeans following my own advice!</p>
<p>But as I started learning more about the history of the garment and how it’s made, I realised that knowledge sells.</p>
<p>A couple years ago, researchers at the esteemed Wharton business school backed this notion with research. <a href="https://www.denimhunters.com/online-staff-training-creates-more-sales/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Their study</a> found that educated and engaged retail staff would sell up to 46% more than their peers who don’t have the same product knowledge.</p>
