ChatGPT and Its Impact on Criminal Forensics (and Criminals)

ChatGPT has seemingly exploded out of nowhere in the last several weeks. This article is the first in a series exploring how it, and more broadly no-longer-theoretical Artificial Intelligence will potentially change key aspects of the digital forensics field, and what we as a society and forensics professionals might do to prepare for it. This first article introduces as least some of the potential forensics’ issues of this emerging Artificial Intelligence tool, and provides a sample usage of ChatGPT in criminal contexts.
