Please Stop Saying “I’ll be dead before the worst of it hits.”
<p>Yes, most of us will be dead before the worst of the climate calamities and geopolitical wars happen. That is true. But, maybe we should all just stop saying it all the time?</p>
<p>This true sentiment is usually followed up by noting that ‘I do feel sorry for young people, children, grandchildren, who will have to endure…’</p>
<p>People are not the ones who will suffer most. Many of us doubt human beings will even go extinct. Civilization? Maybe. But, those rise and fall like geologic climate changes and they always will. It’s difficult to wipe out the most adaptable species that ever embarrassingly ever dominated a planet.</p>
