<p>Julia added another layer on top of her sweater. She noticed that the fire was almost out. It was a good thing she caught it. It took her twenty minutes to get a spark with the flint. Starting a fire without a lighter or matches wasn’t an easy feat. She quickly added a log and blew on the embers.</p>
<p>The power was out again, and she was waiting for Adam to come home with gas for the generator. She looked at her phone. He was two hours late, and she had no bars. Not that she was surprised. On a clear day, they had to walk down the driveway to the poplar tree to get reception.</p>
