<p>As the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP28) concluded on December 13 in the oil-rich United Arab Emirates, a diverse mix of participants, from oil-producing countries and energy corporations to policymakers and climate activists, grappled with the aggravations of addressing climate change as disagreements and all-night sessions were a theme of this year&rsquo;s event. COP28 was a particularly significant conference, as it hosted the first Global Stocktake, a comprehensive &ldquo;report card&rdquo; on the global efforts to address the climate crisis.
