Coco Romero Brings Carnival to Campus

<p>BUENOS AIRES &mdash; Few parties compare to the charm and glamor of Carnival. Costumes dripping with jewels and music playing at tooth-loosening decibels, its glitz is impossible to overstate and its history impossible to over-discuss. Even fewer people can tout a resume brimming with global Carnival performances, musical workshops, and a profound understanding of what it means to celebrate life against all odds. Coco Romero falls into that fabled minority. Choosing to share his years of experiences, Romero spoke with the students of NYU Buenos Aires on Tuesday.</p> <p>Armed with historical comics and photos of partiers in past centuries, Coco Romero invited students into the world of Carnival beyond its shiny ornaments, challenging them to understand the blending of culture, class, and religion that comprises the festival.
