Jackson’s Unidentified Body Problem

Upon his election in 2017, Mayor of Jackson Chokwe Lumumba promised to make Jackson “The Most Radical City on the Planet”. While many changes have indeed occurred under his leadership, there are issues long buried that are now beginning to wake up and undue any trust left government and the people they are supposed to serve and protect. Over 200 bodies have been buried in an unmarked grave known as a pauper’s grave, just behind a jail. These bodies, over 200 of them, range from murder victims, accidental deaths, and more, but it means that over 200 living relatives have not gotten closure over a loved one’s passing, and as the sole legal custodian for the dead, this a stain on the city of Jackson. The law says that if a body cannot be claimed (the pre-requisite of course, them being identified with a name) within 5 days of death, they can be buried in such a Pauper’s Grave.
