The far-reaching consequences of the CRL

This is probably the best proxy for examining the CRL’s dual role.

I’ve been in and out of Bishan station a lot more than usual recently, in order to make attempts at purchasing doughnuts from Mister Donut. Of course, the Bishan crowds are depressing as always, but what matters here is whether something is being done about it. That something, people might say, is the CRL in the long run.

Remember that the CRL will be our first high capacity line in nearly 30 years, with six car trains starting out and the potential to go up to eight cars. Is this merely an overcorrection towards the overcrowding on the Circle Line, like we’re seeing with the excessively large fleets of newer MRT lines? Will we, like right now, see a low frequency due to actual demand not meeting predictions?
