Noone should be arrested for peacefully protesting in America, but that didn't stop Georgia state prosecutors from charging sixty-one people in the Stop Cop City movement with racketeering charges on August 29th. According to the criminal indictment, "each individual charged in this indictment knowing[ly] joined the conspiracy in an attempt to prevent the training center from being built." The group of environmental and criminal justice reform activists have been accused of "promoting virulent anarchist ideas." However, when prosecutors cited examples, they alleged the Stop Cop City activists promoted "collectivism, mutualism, mutual aid, and social solidarity." So, working together to achieve common goals, providing support, and acting in solidarity is now considered criminal behavior?
