Anger and Grief Over Something That I Have Never Seen
<p>I know of this tree but I have never visited it personally. I’ve seen it featured on TV and in images and of course, it was in one of my favourite films where it became famous-<a href="https://news.sky.com/video/sycamore-gap-watch-tree-in-1991-kevin-costner-film-robin-hood-prince-of-thieves-12971903" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Robin Hood and the Prince of Thieves</a></p>
<p>When I saw it on its side on the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tyne-66957589.amp" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">BBC news </a>this morning it took me a moment to work out what was happening. I wrongly assumed it had died or some developer had chopped it down then it dawned on me that this tree is in quite a wild location. I turned up the volume and the reporter was holding back tears as she explained that it had been vandalised.</p>
