Building Native Plant Communities: ???Tallamy Talks??? and Generosity

Two years after becoming enthralled with the native plant movement, I discovered that the neighborhood I live in is the core of my local native plant gardening community.

Here in Ann Arbor, we have an all-volunteer organization called “Seeds to Community” (S2C) that teaches people how to winter sow natives through a series of workshops, and their yearly native plant sale is run like a garage sale just down the street from me.

This is a hobby I’d taken up almost exclusively from the internet, and after a chance meeting with one of the heads of S2C at the library, I finally started building in-person connections around it. And I quickly learned that the reason my neighborhood is so ahead of the curve on incorporating native plants is because of the work S2C has done.
