When I decided to stop dying my hair, I announced my intentions at work, to my family, and to my friends.
Many of their reactions surprised me. Several people even grew defensive of their decisions to keep coloring their own hair.
“Well, your hair looks great, but gray would look terrible on me,” I heard more times than I could count. Or even, “I couldn’t do that. I’d look so old.”
So, did that mean that my gray hair made me look old?
I decided not to worry about it. Going gray was way easier than I anticipated, and I wasn’t trying to make any sort of statement about healthy aging.
