As a child, I was obsessed with puppet making. My idols didn’t come much bigger than Jim Henson. So in 2003, when I had the opportunity to visit The Creature Shop in London, I jumped at the chance.
Getting to the studio was a challenge. I live in Cornwall, nearly five hours away by train and I’d never been to the big city on my own before. Travelling on the Tube to Camden was a complete culture shock, but I finally arrived at Henson’s on time. It was located near Camden Lock in North London. I could see why Brian Henson chose this bohemian area for the Creature Shop’s second incarnation.
