For a bit of context, I knew this was coming up during my time as a Jeannette K Watson Fellow, A program designed to provide financially fund­ed sum­mer intern­ships and unprece­dent­ed opportunities for three years to promis­ing under­grad­u­ate stu­dents from 12 New York City part­ner insti­tu­tions. Unsure of when I would travel for my year abroad given the circumstances of the global pandemic, I took the first opportunity I could travel for work and “flew” with it.
