Long ago, a noble chief had a beautiful daughter named Magyon who shunned her wealthy and arrogant suitor Pagtuga. When she planned to marry her soft-spoken true love, Ulap, her violent suitor and his henchman, Linog, tried to stop them. In the ensuing fight, all four were killed.
From their graves rose Mayon volcano, an active stratovolcano located approximately 330 kilometers (around 205 miles) southeast of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. Mayon is known for its nearly perfect cone shape and for often being on the edge of eruption.
