Micromobility refers to small, low-speed vehicles intended for personal use and currently includes station-based bikeshare systems, dockless bikeshare systems, electric-assist bikeshare, and electric scooters.[1] This model of transportation has rapidly expanded in the past ten years, particularly since the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. “Bicycle sharing systems worldwide, for example, have increased rapidly, from 17 bike sharing programs worldwide in 2005 to over 2,900 in 2019.” [2] The popularity of these types of modes lies in the relatively low cost, speed, and efficiency. A survey of North American E-Bike users shows that older people and those with limited mobility can access cycling with the assistance of the electric boost. Similarly, those who previously rode bicycles can go further and feel safer while riding their e-bike.
