If this doesn’t blow your hair back, I’m not sure what will. I’m from Ohio, a notoriously conservative state that has been, along with 21 other states, edging closer and closer to bringing Margaret Atwood’s The Handsmaid’s Tale to life.
I had a friend in elementary school, “Lisa,” who I shared the title of fastest runner in the 6th grade with. We would crush all the other kids. Although we didn’t spend time together outside of school, I think and hope it’s fair to say that we had a mutual admiration. Hope, because I was intimidated by her speed and struggled to tie with her sometimes.
