There is one Indonesian idiom that motivates me to keep doing what I like and not to be swayed by the opinions of others.
It is di atas langit, masih ada langit. Its literal translation is ‘there is still another sky above the sky’.
As an idiom, of course it isn’t meant to be perceived literally. Indonesians commonly perceive the idiom as a social expectation that someone must be humble.
It is assumed that there are other people who have more knowledge, wisdom, or wealth than you, so you must not boast about yourself as if you are the best.
With this idiom, people are expected to stay lowkey in behavior.
