I’ve had my eye on a product called Bird Buddy for a while. It’s a wifi-enabled backyard bird feeder with a wide-angle camera mounted on the front. When the camera detects that a feathered friend has stopped by for some seed, it starts recording. The viewer can play back the videos that the Bird Buddy captured and learn what species they are.
I had just gotten a Ring Video Doorbell 3 for free and it seemed to me that by stitching together the right set of AWS services, I could create my own approximation of a Bird Buddy, so I decided to give it a go.
